Where cloud clearly wins in Pune

A Pune head office with a godown at Hadapsar or a factory at Chakan is the textbook case: stores staff post inward entries at the plant while accounts bills from the office, on the same data, in real time. Groups with an outstation branch in Mumbai or Nashik get consolidated reporting without any file exchange at all.

The second clear case is owner access. A trader visiting parties across the city can check the day's collections and a party's outstanding from a phone rather than calling the office three times.

Where an on-premise install is still better

If everyone sits in one office, your billing volume is high and your internet is unreliable, a LAN install on a decent machine will be faster and cheaper. Cloud costs recur per user per year; a perpetual LAN licence does not. We say this plainly rather than pushing hosting on every customer.

Security, backups and access control

Hosted data sits on managed infrastructure with scheduled backups, which is materially safer than the typical Pune SME arrangement of a single office PC with an external drive nobody has tested. We add user-level rights so a branch user sees only their branch, restrict back-dated entries, and enable the audit trail so any change is attributable.

Printing, scanners and practical details

The most common cloud complaint has nothing to do with accounting: printing. Invoice printing from a cloud session needs printer redirection configured properly, and thermal receipt printers at a retail counter need extra care. We test every printer at every location before go-live, including barcode label printers where used.

Internet quality matters more than speed. A stable 20 Mbps line with low packet loss outperforms an erratic 100 Mbps connection for remote-session work, and we recommend a backup mobile connection at billing locations.

Moving an existing Busy installation to cloud

Migration to cloud is usually done over a weekend: current data is backed up and uploaded, users and rights are recreated, formats and printers are configured and tested, then Monday morning billing starts on the hosted copy. The local installation is kept read-only for a few weeks as a safety net.
